What is PRC?
PRC is a product based on the latest technology in the field of rusting or corrosion of iron and metals.
How does PRC work?
PRC works by converting rust into an organo metallic complex protected by a polymer. When buff coloured PRC is applied on a rusted surface it visibly converts rust to a brown, grey, or black coloured film within minutes, depending on the degree of corrosion on the surface of the metal. This marks the end of rusting of the metallic surface.
How is PRC applied?
A simple surface preparation is carried out by removing the loose scales and flaky rust by the use of a wire brush. Grease and oil are removed by a detergent wash followed by a water wash. Do not remove all traces of rust since it can be converted and protected. PRC can now be applied on the rusted surface with a brush or spray. PRC dispenses with different steps of surface like sand blasting, grinding, phosphating, red-oxide coating etc. This makes the PRC method a fast one and also less labour intensive (saves 60%) PRC also accepts various types of top coats. In PRC application transfer a small portion in a non-metallic container. After use do not pour back the unused portion to the original container. This will prevent contamination of the product.
HOW DOES PRC DIFFER FROM OTHER PRODUCTS?
OTHER PRODUCTS | PRC |
1. Elaborating preparation of surface so time consuming and labour intensive. | Easy preparation of surface, so fast and less labour intensive saves 60% labour. |
2. Solvent based system. | Water based system. |
3. Combustible | Non- combustible. |
4. Toxic | Non- toxic. |
5. Acidic PH.2 | Neutral PH.7 |
6. Cannot be applied to all conditions | Universal application can be applied to atmospheric, marine, sandstorms, rcc, chemical condition etc. |
7. Cannot stand high temperatures. | Can stand high temperatures up to 600 degrees ideal for chimneys. |
8.Non thicksotropic so no advantage in Packing, application or storage. | Thicksotropic i.e. on application of pressure the product liquefies and under non-pressure conditions the product thickens thereby does not leak from the container nor separate on storage. |
9. Product stable for 6 months to 1 year. | PRC stable for 2 years. |
10. Coverage 60 to 80 sqft p .kg. | PRC coverage 150 sqft per kilo. |
11. No flexibility with rigidity. | PRC is versatile product with flexibility with rigidity |
12. Cannot be used as a water proofing Compound. | PRC can be used as a water proofing compound. |
